SCOTT COKER ANNOUNCES 16-MAN BELLATOR FEATHERWEIGHT TOURNAMENT

Bellator president Scott Coker went on Ariel Helwani’s ESPN MMA Show on Monday and disclosed the news that his marketing is planning on conducting a 16-man featherweight grand prix tournament. According to Coker, the championship will begin operating in October and will feature 16 of the top featherweights in Bellator, including fighters in the branch in addition to bantamweights moving up and potentially even lightweights moving down. The featherweight championship follows in the footsteps of the promotion’s heavyweight grand prix, which only watched Ryan Bader crowned winner, and also the welterweight tournament, which remains ongoing.
Coker told Helwani he wants the very first round of eight fights in the championship to take place on one night or on back-to-back nights in the autumn. In addition, he said he wants the championship to complete within a year, which nearly mirrors the heavyweight and welterweight championship timelines.
As far as that will be one of the 16 fighters at the tournament, so far no one has been announced, but Coker did say that he desires Bellator featherweight champion Patricio”Pitbull” Freire to be part of the championship game. Pitbull is taking on Michael Chandler in May for its Bellator lightweight title, so if he does take part in the championship he will still be the champion, meaning his belt is going to be on the line in every round of this tournament like Rory MacDonald’s welterweight title is on the line each time he fights.
As far as other featherweights that are expected to maintain the championship, here are some who appear to be close locks: Growing prospect AJ McKee; top rival Henry Corrales; former champ Daniel Straus; former champ Pat Curran; former high prospect Aaron Pico; former title competition Emmanuel Sanchez; and former UFC fighter Sam Sicilia.
The fact there aren’t 16 featherweights means that bantamweights are also invited to move up, and Coker said that James Gallagher and Darrion Caldwell will be requested to get involved in the championship. I’d also anticipate Ricky Bandejas and Juan Archuleta to be requested, too. As far as lightweights proceed, there might possibly be a couple of fighters who could create the cut down a weight class involving Derek Campos, who just fought at featherweight in his last fight, and Ryan Scope, who just lost a close struggle against Patricky”Pitbull” Freire.
It is exciting to see Bellator continue to maintain such tournaments as the sport of MMA was build on the championship format. The advertising’s bedrock back in the Bjorn Rebney days was the championships but when Coker first came in they began to go away in exchange for superfights and legends fights. Nonetheless, it feels like Coker, Bellator, Paramount and DAZN adore the tournaments since this is the third one the promotion will be running within the last two decades. At this point, you need to wonder what the next tournament for Bellator will be, and when I had to guess that it could be something in the women’s branches. For the time being, though, featherweight has become a fantastic pair of fights.

Technology is constantly growing, particularly online. It is often the case that new online betting sites utilise technological improvements to improve their internet product. Contemporary, modern site designs and improved applications add to the user experience. New online betting sites are often at the cutting edge of such technological progress.
What Are The Disadvantages?
The most obvious negative when signing up with a brand new online gaming website is if they can be reliable or not. The well-established gambling agencies have devised their reputations over the years. With newer businesses, there is almost always a small worry that they might not be trustworthy. Happily, because of tightened regulations, fictitious bookmakers are becoming a rarity. However, it still makes sense to be careful before opening an account.
Another minor drawback of joining a new online gaming website is understanding how to utilize and find your way around an unknown website. If you’re used to gambling with your usual bookmaker it can be quite a shock to the system to be faced with a brand new interface and layout. Orlando Magic: 200-1

Elfrid Payton is a sneaky Rookie of the Year candidate, Nikola Vucevic only filmed a reasonably priced expansion and the Orlando Magic’s defense has allowed an exceptionally stingy 97.2 points per 100 possessions during preseason play, according to RealGM.com.
You can accurately cite the fact that the Magic are such noise statistical stoppers because their preseason schedule comprised the hapless Sixers and Indiana Pacers, but understand this: You are no fun at parties.
Additionally decidedly unfun: Victor Oladipo’s being sidelined for a little while with a injury.
Oct. 23, the official release of the team relayed the information that was buzz-killing:
Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo is going to probably be out indefinitely after suffering a facial break in clinic Thursday, General Manager Rob Hennigan declared now.
Thursday afternoon, oladipo, who had been assessed, will undergo a surgical procedure on Saturday. He was hurt after taking an elbow during a practice drill.
Oladipo, a year’s lottery selection and someone the Magic expected would require a jump this season, was battling a bad knee during the preseason. Neither he nor Orlando desired this.
Looks like Payton will have a chance to prove himself. That is good.
Looks like Ben Gordon is in the combination to begin at shooting guard. That good.
Back, Victor.

UFC232 Betting Tips & Plays

Chad Mendes Breakdown: This is a huge step up for Alex Volkanovski and also on newspaper seems to be a terrible matchup. Both fighters are well rounded and shine with their wrestling foundations. On the toes the speed and power advantage for Mendes should be obvious, where he will use his bigger assortment of techniques to inflict the damaging strikes. In order to gain an edge, volkanovski relies on his wrestling, particularly top control. Mendes is the better wrestler both offensively and defensively, having never been taken down into his UFC career. Volkanovski has been taken down in the past by much lesser fighters, even though he is clearly improving with experience. The durability and layoff queries are the main reasons we’re getting such excellent odds about the veteran. It appears to be an obvious pick considering he looked in prime shape. This fight is going to be action packed and it is Mendes with more tools to get the end or rack up control and damage to impress the judges.
Bet = Mendes at 1.70 (-143) odds. Risk 4 Units to acquire 2.8 Units.

What Went Wrong at UFC 239?
Do not bet on a whim, children! It is bad for the bottom line. I originally only had the Julia Avila / Michael Chiesa parlay, but chose to add the Luke Rockhold / Chiesa choice prior to printing. You would think I would have learned not to bet on or from Jan Blachowicz at this point, but I did not get to where I am now by having any sort of pattern recognition.

UFC 231: Holloway vs. Ortega staff picks and predictions

The Bloody Elbow group has filed its predictions for UFC 231, and while everybody who wrote something up picked Max Holloway over Brian Ortega, entire opinion is fairly divided. In terms of the co-main occasion, again things are divided as to who’ll prevail between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Valentina Shevchenko. It is excellent to have toss-up title fights such as these two, isn’t it?
Notice: Predictions are entered throughout the week and collected the day before the event. Explanations behind every choice aren’t required and a few writers elect to not do this for their own reasons. For example, if Phil Mackenzie entered all his predictions on Wednesday without incorporating in any excuses , he has no idea if he is going to be the only one siding with one fighter for any given fight.
Max Holloway vs. Brian Ortega
Anton Tabuena: This really is pretty straightforward to me. With any bizarre health difficulties, Max Holloway should fully run through Ortega here. Holloway is just much better and far more dangerous than the rest of the people Ortega has defeated. This is clearly still MMA and Ortega has shown that he has adequate power, but he definitely will not pick apart someone as technically proficient as Holloway. I think this will look a good deal like Ortega’s past bouts, but he will have a much worse beating and won’t be able to fix that magic comeback. Max Holloway by TKO.
Mookie Alexander: There’s a degree of unsustainability to Ortega’s love of finishing fights over winning rounds, and Holloway is a masterful round winner. I’m obviously assuming we’re receiving the best version of Max Holloway, therefore that is the secret here. Ortega has grown tremendously as a striker, but until this stage, Holloway has shown a ridiculous chin and he is probably not the person you want to engage in a high-paced brawl with. Ortega loves the leaping guillotine, I guess Holloway will be prepared for this, and he’s a damn good grappler in his own right. Takedowns are unlikely on either side, and Ortega specifically has shown himself to be not particularly good at taking down his opponents in the first location. While Ortega is extremely dangerous predicated on what we’ve seen out of him in recent conflicts, I still trust Holloway to do more damage and avoid the classic Ortega comeback. Max Holloway by decision.
Zane Simon: Ortega’s fight against Frankie Edgar was something of a sin. He has always been tricky, always been dangerous, but that was the first time his striking style – built around a lot slicker moves and often a lack of basic ones – has looked like a complete game. He worked behind the jab, feinted, pulled out predictable answers and changed up his entrances to club Frankie into unconsciousness. It was damn pretty. It also suggests that it is hard to say how much more improved Ortega might be now. Without seeing more variety and consistency to his game, and without visiting an ability to keep output over multiple hard hitting rounds, I have to select Holloway. His ability to push a speed and then to up that rate as his opponents tire, his ability to change aims in conjunction and start up new mixtures off earlier, easier ones, just are not abilities that Ortega has revealed yet. And Ortega still has a history of dropping rounds that he has not completed the struggle in. Even with Max’s health scare, most of the questions are around Ortega’s side and most of the replies are around Holloway’s. Max Holloway by decision.
Victor Rodriguez: Neither man is going to be looking to take the other down, and Holloway’s clinch game is lethal. Having said this, Ortega’s been a man I have counted out in so many struggles, I feel dumb picking him against him. He should have a range drawback and Max’s frenetic pace must make this difficult for him due to volume, but Ortega doesn’t get hit that far and appears to keep finding ways to pull a bunny out of his hat. I still want to pick Ortega by diving for a flying armbar from a clinch situation, but that’s a small reckless for me personally. And while I’m still concerned about the fact that we still don’t know what health concerns Holloway had last time, it would appear that the man that wears damage well and contains a more comprehensive and written approach to his attacks need to have the ability to take over as the battle goes on and apply pressure accordingly. Max Holloway by decision.
